We were gawking up at the stunning girl-turned-bird above us. The glowing creature was red, with a golden underside, beak, legs, and wingtips. She had long, long red and gold tail feathers and a beautiful rainbow crest. She also possessed a beautiful lilting voice and sparkling, emerald-green eyes. Artie, Zap, Molter, Lugia and Ho-oh had drawn back in surprise. The Phoenix turned, her eyes glowing a fierce emerald-green. She sang in her strange voice, but there were thoughts accompanying it.
Your birds are no match for me. I am power in form. Nothing can defeat me! She opened her mouth, and a strange sound came from it. It was a vibrating sound that you could hardly hear, but you knew it was there, for it vibrated in your bones and sent waves of pain through your body. Professor Oak collapsed, unable to bear it any longer. Artie, Zap, Molter, Ho-oh, and Lugia fell too. Z collapsed next to me. I was almost unable to bear it. I was starting to fall into that deep, black nothingness. A voice in my head said Ash, don't give up. If you can't destroy this thing, nothing can!
Even Artie, Zap, Molter, Lugia and Ho-oh have fallen prey to this thing, I told it. If they have already fallen, how can I ever survive?
Well, you've gone farther than they have so far. Listen to what you're saying. "If they have already fallen…" Remember, you can go as far as you can think you can go. Now do it. Defeat the Phoenix, save all of us!
"All of us…"I repeated out loud. "All of us!
"Phoenix!" I called to it. "You prey on those physically weaker than you, just to see them scream in pain! I know what you are! A BULLY! And everyone knows bullies are weak at heart! Well, I am Ash Ketchum from the town of Pallet, Pokemon Master, Trainer of Legendary Pokemon! NOTHING scares me! And that includes YOU!"
Phoenix turned, looking almost like she was in pain. The glow in her eyes was fading.
"Nothing will scare me! Phoenix, I will down you! You will never win!"
She was now glowing all over, and she looked very weak.
"You are mine!"
Phoenix gave a single mighty shriek, then her body blurred back into human form. She fell from the sky, and landed hard on the concrete.
